COLATEX - NON TOXIC PRINTMAKING EXHIBITION

COLATEX - Non Toxic Printmaking Exhibition
November 10 to 22, 2012

Rehearsing a
Educational Center, the Space for Arts, Media & Performance presents an exhibition of non-toxic printmaking,  by the CEARTE - Crafts Training Centre and the Paper Arts Center of  Montemor-o-Velho.

The exhibition is the result of a non-toxic printmaking class, guided by artist Ana Bellido Zambrano, who also curates the exhibition, held between 1 and 4 November in the workshops of the
Paper Arts Center.

In the traditional techniques of printmaking, performs a matrix, preferably flat and rigid material, where the artist records directly (dry point) or indirectly using acid, the reason which will appear in the final print. The picture is reproduced on paper and usually allows to perform a series of recordings in which repeats the recorded image.

In the picture called nontoxic, perform practically the same procedures of changing the traditional engraving materials harmful to health and the environment by others who are not. For example replace the solvents by water, the acid by salts such as ferric chloride and so on.

* "Colatex" is a printmaking technique developed by Ana Bellido Zambrano consisting in bonding various materials on a support, which is then covered with silver and printed.
